Relevant experience
Roova Arts is founded and led by Joanne Coates, a visual artist and farm worker whose long-form practice explores rural life, class, labour, gender, land and belonging.
Joanne was the UK Parliament Election Artist in 2024. Her work and commissions have involved organisations including BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Jerwood Arts and Photoworks, the National Trust, Open Eye Gallery, Kestle Barton and the Dales Countryside Museum.
She brings artistic research, photography, sound, installation, oral history, participatory practice, public speaking and lived knowledge of farming and rural working-class life.
